On June 3, 2018, at UBC in Vancouver, the large-scale blockchain event with a thousand attendees – the 2018 Global Digital Assets Summit and the 2nd Canada-US-China Blockchain Niche Alliance Forum – was successfully held. This summit was jointly hosted by the Canada-US-China Blockchain Niche Alliance, HiBit Blockchain Inc., the Financial Technology Club (FTCC), and Guofu Capital.
The event invited hundreds of blockchain industry elites from Canada, the United States, and China, attracting nearly a thousand attendees, making it arguably the largest blockchain summit in Canadian history. At the suggestion of Dr. Hou Yanlin, the summit set up 60 co-chairs and 15 special guests, pioneering a new era of "decentralized" summits in the blockchain space.
Fiona (CEO of HiBit Blockchain Inc.) explained that there were three purposes for holding this summit: to fulfill her expectations from the first Vancouver blockchain lecture held in February this year; to achieve a Vancouver blockchain consensus, embrace the new era, new assets, and new wealth; and to build a healthy new blockchain ecosystem, protect investor interests, and create a happy blockchain community.
Fiona stated that blockchain technology can solve trust issues on a large scale and at a low cost, subverting the traditional definition of digital assets and providing a new way for alternative asset allocation. The circulation of digital currency tokens will not only absorb value but eventually purchase the entire social ecosystem. Financial digital assets, which are private property that truly belongs to individuals, will bring more freedom, value, and fairness to humanity.
Martin stated that blockchain will become an important driving force for human social progress in the 21st century. Human society, having experienced the rapid development and changes of the information internet, is exploring and calling for new ways of production relations and social governance. Blockchain technology is changing the course of human social progress, and at the same time, everyone's participation is shaping the blockchain. Distributed applications based on blockchain will emerge endlessly. Based on vertical community ecosystems, the value of tokens will anchor the interactions in various ecosystems, large and small, and reflect the value accumulated by the overall ecosystem. The token economy will bring unlimited possibilities to our future.
Professor Zhang Jiawei first thanked the sponsors, hosts, and organizers. Jiang Peng mainly explained three aspects: First, blockchain technology research began with exploring the feasibility of developing an operating system. Third, the essence of pan-entertainment applications is the digitization of IP.
Keynote Speech — Value Interpretation of Token Economy on a 500-Year Time Scale
The keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Hou Yanlin, Co-chair of the summit and Director of the Blockchain Energy Foundation. His theme was grand and unique. Dr. Hou pointed out that it was the "joint-stock system," a production relationship that was two to three hundred years ahead of its time, that enabled the Dutch East India Company to continuously earn an annualized return of 18% for its shareholders over 200 years. TOKEN is the cornerstone of human innovation in production relations for the next 500 years. Dr. Hou's final summary, "The future has arrived; not taking risks is the biggest risk," won warm applause and cheers from the audience.
The exciting content of this summit was overwhelming. The enthusiastic atmosphere at the venue, of course, cannot be conveyed on paper even by one-tenth of its intensity. The lively atmosphere at the venue was like the beginning of a "big bull market." Finally, Canada's unprecedented thousand-person blockchain summit achieved unexpected success with the support of distinguished guests, professional media, and fans and blockchain enthusiasts who have long been concerned about the future of finance.
